Black Basalt Prestige Giftware

Josiah Wedgwood named the black earthenware body that he created, Black Basalt, as it resembled Egyptian basalt: a very hard, black natural stone used for sculpture.

The Black Basalt Tea Set shown here is based on classical 18th century Queensware shapes and is considered a Wedgwood design classic.
